Client Journal: Dreamy and Dramatic Primary Bedroom

Clients: A couple ready to create a relaxed, comfortable, cozy retreat
Space: A light-filled main bedroom with a soaring ceiling and limited square footage
Functional Objective: To create a comfortable space to retreat to that refreshes and relaxes, to optimize the layout, provide light control at the windows
Aesthetic Objective: To bring color and character to the room freshen up the space, and bring in custom details and prints that create a truly unique bedroom.
Highlights:
This room was quite a blank slate! We immediately recommended shifting the bed to the opposite wall (as you can see in the before/after photo below). This created a more welcoming orientation, and put the focus on the headboard wall. The existing window treatments needed updating, but the motorized “smart” curtain rod worked well and provided luxury functionality. We kept the rod and had new drapes made to fit. The new drapery fabric adds a warmth and texture to the room.
We replaced the dated fan with a stunner of a chandelier. The shape of the chandelier mimics the planes of the vaulted ceiling, as do the individual glass globes. A textured gold leaf finish adds a subtle detail to the piece.
The overall color palette of the room is in soft neutrals with subtle prints and texture (so much subtle texture!); bolder patterns and color are introduced in the wallpaper feature wall and accent fabrics. We brought in beautifully embroidered or hand blocked textural, rich fabrics to add character and charm. The clients had the lovely antique chair with stunning wood grain. We added the cushion in a charming print to elevate and freshen the look.
