Client Journal: #projectgatherround

Clients: a young, vibrant family of four who appreciates traditional and classic design, with a bit of a twist

Space: the formal dining room in this family’s new-to-them spacious colonial in Raleigh

Functional Objective: to provide a space for family celebrations and holidays that is practical and functional, with regular comfortable seating for 8 and durable fabrics and finishes; a buffet or credenza for serving

Aesthetic Objective:  to honor the classic style and finishes of the home, with traditional dining room furnishings, and to bring in color, pattern and texture that feels fresh and reflective of the family’s style

Highlights:  The client and I both fell in love with these stunning, unique vintage Louis chairs (a Union Camp Collective score). The hand painted finish with the vibrant cerulean blue bows was such an eye catcher and so incredibly charming.  We had the six chairs reupholstered in a durable performance fabric and had custom skirted head chairs made in the same fabric.  The gorgeous large-scale blue floral on the outside backs of the chairs adds a punch of pattern to the space and ties all of the shades of blue together.  It is repeated in small lumbar pillows for the head chairs.  The gorgeous original art by Christie Younger  brings a more modern touch to the space.

But, Mostly…

We were able to take this empty, underwhelming space and transform it into a bright and inviting room; a lovely backdrop for holidays and celebrations for years to come.  As the space is just off the foyer, it provides an incredible first impression upon entering the home.

With full service design, our clients see their rooms transform into dream spaces.  Are you curious how we can help create your dream home? We’d love to chat.
